DMCI Power delivers record H1 sales

August 23, 2018

DMCI Power Corporation (DPC) set record sales in the first semester of the year, as electricity demand in Palawan, Mindoro and Masbate hit all-time highs.

For the second quarter alone, DPC generated consolidated sales of 79.93 GWh, a 20 percent increase from 66.57 GWh during the same period last year.

This pushed first-half sales volume to rise 19 percent year-on-year from 120.42 GWh to 142.91 GWh. Palawan accounted for the bulk of the sales (43%), followed by Masbate (37%) and Mindoro (20%).

Power sales to Palawan Electric Cooperative (PALECO) from January to June advanced by 30 percent from 47.42 GWh to 61.57 GWh while energy volume sold to Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative (ORMECO) grew by 13 percent from 24.97 GWh to 28.24 GWh.

Meanwhile, energy sales to Masbate Electric Cooperative (MASELCO) jumped by nearly 11 percent from 48.03 GWh to 53.10 GWh.

Palawan’s booming tourism industry and Masbate’s expanding commercial businesses accounted for the higher electricity demand while Mindoro’s rehabilitated 69Kv transmission lines in the north grid allowed DPC to maximize its plant capacities and deliver more electricity.

“The dramatic growth was principally due to the National Power Corporation, local government units and electric cooperatives, and their collective effort to address line issues in the missionary areas,” said DPC President Nestor D. Dadivas.

“With their continued rehabilitation of distribution lines, improvement of transmission lines and prioritization of new interconnection facilities, DPC can supply more electricity to more communities in the next 12-48 months,” Dadivas added.

DPC was established in 2006 to provide sufficient and reliable electricity to areas that are not connected to the main transmission grid. Its off-takers include MASELCO, ORMECO, PALECO and Sultan Kudarat Electric Cooperative.
